15 Best Anime Tie-In Movies Of All Time
6. Dragon Ball Super: Broly
There have been many Dragon Ball movies; in fact, this one isn't even a sequel, prequel or any sort of 'quel. It is, instead, a reboot of the 1993 movie Dragon Ball Z: Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan. Despite that, it's easily the best film in the franchise's catalogue.
Coming after the events of the Universal Saga arc, this movie shows Goku and Vegeta taking on a new, impossibly powerful force in the form of Broly, a Saiyan warrior who was exiled from Planet Vegeta in his youth.
As the latest property in Dragon Ball, it's safe to say a lot was riding on this film, and boy, howdy did it live up to expectations.
The film's animation is weighty and pristine, turning the battle scenes into dynamite. Plus, the exploration of the Saiyan's history adds plenty of meat to it. However, where the movie thrives - and improves on the legacy of Dragon Ball - is in the titular villain, Broly.
This is a character the non-canon movies have used multiple times, with this being his fourth appearance. But, here, he's a fully fleshed-out person. His backstory as a victim of his power-hungry father and overall innocence took this rebooted version of the villain to new heights.
