Despite enraging London commuters with its inaccurate representation of the tube network, Thor: The Dark World is a film that has its strengths. After the success of Joss Whedons The Avengers, The Dark World was rewritten slightly to increase Lokis role in proceedings. More Tom Hiddleston is never, ever a bad thing. We see some excellent interplay between the adoptive godly brothers in this movie, from comedic bickering to hand-chopping-off trickery. Lokis acts towards the end of the movie give comic book fans plenty to discuss about the MCUs future, as well. As you may already know, this isnt a film without its weaknesses. Christopher Ecclestons lead villain, Malekith, feels hugely underdeveloped, and scenes that should be hugely moving including a second act death for a supporting character fail to ignite any sort of an emotional reaction. These problems stem from the fact that this is ultimately a disjointed film, which rushes past certain plot points to get to the next action scene, romantic bit or brotherly banter. However, even the worst MCU movies are pretty decent, so youll still find plenty of fun scenes within The Dark World.
