Ray Stevenson replaced Thomas Jane as The Punisher for this movie reboot, which brought the skull-shirt-wearing anti-hero Frank Castle back to the big screen in 2008. Now, you can watch it on Netflix and relive all the violence in the comfort of your own home. Lexi Alexander who has since gone on to direct for Arrow and Supergirl, on TV helmed this one for Lionsgate and Marvel Knights, a subsidiary for Marvel Studios that focuses on darker and moodier movies. (To date, Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance is the only other film to be made as a 'Marvel Knights' production.) Sticking close to the comic book source material, War Zone sees Frank Castle waging a one-war against the mob boss Jigsaw, played by Dominic West. The film was a commercial flop, earning less in the USA than any other Marvel Comics adaptation, including Elektra and Howard The Duck. However, for fans of the grittier side of superheroics, Punisher: War Zone is a fun way to wile away a couple of hours. If you can stomach the violence, youll find a lot to enjoy here.
