Get your Shark-Repellent Bat Spray at the ready, because the 1966 Batman movie is currently available on Netflix. A VHS favourite from many a nerds childhood, this brightly coloured Caped Crusader movie has more cheese than the average fondue party. Adam West stars as the grooviest incarnation of Gothams protector, in a film that sees him face off against every villain going. Cesar Romero steals the show at The Joker, alongside Burgess Merediths Penguin, Frank Gorshins Riddler and Lee Meriwethers Catwoman. These nefarious rogues have cooked up an evil scheme that hinges on disintegrating a collection of international politicians. Yikes! The Dark Knight this most certainly is not, but as a slice of campy Saturday afternoon entertainment, its hard to beat it. Its also a great film to stick on when youve got a few mates over youll chuckle consistently at how different Wests Batman is to the cinematic representations weve seen in recent years. A product of a bygone era, Batman: The Movie has a soft spot in many of our hearts. Seeing West interact with Burt Wards Robin is always a treat, and the vehicles in this one are excellent, too. As well as the iconic Batmobile, you also get the Batcycle, Batboat and Batcopter. If thats not worth the price of a Netflix subscription, I dont know what is.
