15 Best Ever Robot Sci-Fi Movies

6. The Iron Giant

Westworld Yul Brynner
Warner Bros.

The Iron Giant is based on a novel from the 60s, an era widely regarded as the golden age of science fiction, and it's a story typical of that time - a simple look at humanity's paranoia and fear of the unknown.

In the film, a young boy discovers a giant metal robot has crash-landed on Earth, whom he befriends and keeps hidden from danger. Inevitably the government gets wind of the mysterious visitor with hostile and violent consequences.

The Iron Giant was initially a box office failure, but over time it has come to be known as one of the best animated films ever made, and rightly so.

With perfect storytelling, excellent performances and a frankly stunning combination of traditional and computer generated animation, The Iron Giant is a true classic.
