15 Best Feel Good Sci-Fi Movies

6. Happy Death Day 2 U

Happy Death Day 2U Danielle
Blumhouse

An odd addition to this list, but hear us out.

Even less dark and violent than its already pretty tame predecessor, 2019’s follow-up to Blumhouse’s surprise hit from 2017 ditches the first film’s “Groundhog Day as a slasher” set up in favour of a rom-com remix of Shane Carruth’s Primer.

You know, that film that was calling out for a rom-com remix.

A group of assorted nerds, slackers, and one long-suffering party girl (and her hilariously bitchy housemate) are tasked with both hunting down a killer and fixing the space-time continuum in a flick which, much like the first film, ends up more of an uplifting (if enjoyably silly) tribute to family and love than anything gorier or more self-serious.

Cathal Gunning hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
