15 Best Feel Good Sci-Fi Movies

8 Ways The Martian Shows Hollywood How To Do Science Right
20th Century Fox / Disney

You knew this one was coming, right?

Few films can claim to be as classically feelgood as George Lucas’ sci-fi saga, and of all nine instalments none are more satisfyingly simple than 1977’s original A New Hope.

Free from the (necessary) darker atmosphere of its sequel and the complicated plotting of the original trilogy’s concluding chapter, A New Hope is a solid standalone watch which offers all the mythos and action that Star Wars fans could want whilst still wrapping up its story in, to quote Homer Simpson, a neat little package.

Just try not smiling when they’re handing out medals and John Williams’ iconic soaring score kicks in.
