8 Ways The Martian Shows Hollywood How To Do Science Right
Universal Pictures

Okay, so really any of the trio of instalments from Robert Zemeckis’ beloved sci-fi comedy series would work here.

But as far as feelgood excursions into the genre go, it doesn’t get much more fun than watching Christopher Lloyd’s inimitable eccentric romancing Mary Steenburgen’s mild-mannered schoolmarm in the old West whilst his out-of-place and out-of-time fish out of water friend “Clint Eastwood” struggles to go toe to toe with the bullying Biff’s gunslinging ancestor.

Add in an all-time great closing sequence and you’ve got not only a great end to the trilogy, but one of sci-fi’s most triumphant tributes to the genre’s potential for pure fun. You've also got the sight of Mad Dog Tannen dumped in manure, something every film should strive to include.
