15 Best Feel Good Sci-Fi Movies
10. Safety Not Guaranteed
Coming from the eventual helmer of 2015’s Jurassic
World (which, despite being fun, featured one too many raptor assisted demises
to qualify as a feelgood film), this 2012 indie sci-fi sees eternal sceptic
Aubrey Plaza and her opportunistic employer (New Girl’s Jake Johnson, likeably
sleazy as ever), investigating a kook who claims to have mastered time travel in
his backyard.
Of course, said time traveller turns out to be a loveable sadsack played to perfection by Mark Duplass and you’d be hard pressed not to root for him by the time the initially understated story twists and turns its way to a shocking and jaw-droppingly fun conclusion.
Life-affirming? We don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s just something in our eyes every time we watch this one.
