George Clooney has starred in more than his fair share of more thoughtful and self-serious sci-fi, with a CV featuring the likes of 2002’s Solaris and more recently Alfonso Cuaron’s gruelling Gravity.

So it’s fair to say we were owed a lighter flick from the Ocean’s 11 star, and whilst this one may have disappointed at the box office, Tomorrowland was just the ticket for science fiction fans sick of serious and dark takes on the genre.

Visually stunning, the flick follows Clooney’s disillusioned scientist as he and a teenage charge explore the titular wonderland and our hero falls in love with the possibilities of his profession again. Sweet, sincere, and visually sumptuous, this one was unfairly dismissed upon release and is well worth seeking out for fans of uplifting sci-fi.
