15 Best Hans Zimmer Film Soundtracks

4. The Dark Knight Trilogy

Credit must be also be given to James Newton Howard, who collaborated with Zimmer for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, helping to create one of the most iconic superhero franchise soundtracks.

Just as Christoper Nolan re-imagined Batman in a more realistic, gritty world, the two composers ensured that their new signature theme would be updated and wholly different to the excellent Danny Elfman theme used in Tim Burton's films. The result is a soundtrack that like the movies they accompany, have been the inspiration for many blockbuster franchises to come after.

By creating two different themes for both Batman and Bruce Wayne, memorable villain themes like the Joker's Why So Serious? (a nine minute track based on just two notes) and a main theme that evolves from movie to movie, the soundtrack to The Dark Knight trilogy has a character all of it'=s own. The Batman has never sounded so good.

Best Track: Molosuss

Across the three films there are so many great tracks. From the aforementioned Why So Serious? in The Dark Knight to Rise and Gotham's Reckoning in The Dark Knight Rises. Ultimately the one that stands out the most is Molosuss from Batman Begins. The main action music that plays over the Batmobile chase is epic and enthralling, although I wouldn't reccomend listening to it while driving.
