15 Best Hans Zimmer Film Soundtracks

3. Interstellar

Space may be silent. But if we could hear it, it would probably sound like Interstellar's soundtrack. Nolan and Zimmer teamed up yet again to give us THE space adventure soundtrack.

The story behind its inspiration is quite remarkable as during pre-production Nolan told Zimmer:

"I am going to give you an envelope with a letter in it. One page. It's going to tell you the fable at the center of the story. You work for one day, then play me what you have written."

What Zimmer created in just 24 hours served as the template for his score and Nolan himself continuously played the piece of music while finishing the film's script and during shooting itself. Writing the score is usually something saved for the end of production and can be completed in just a few months but with Interstellar, Zimmer spent two years working on the soundtrack and boy was it worth it.

There are some who question whether the sound of the organ was too loud and drowned out the dialogue too much but when it sounds as good as it does, it can be as loud as needs to be.

Best Track: No Time For Caution

Cornfield Chase and Coward may be the obvious picks, but this track encapsulates wonder, tension and endeavor and accompanies the incredible 'docking' scene.
