8. Mother!

Though it's fair to argue that some of the marketing for Darren Aronofsky's mother! misled audiences as to the film's content - promoting it as a more generic horror romp - this final teaser released shortly before the film's release did a fantastic job building the movie up as a cinematic "event" that would leave audiences scarred.

Anyone who saw this teaser had little right to complain about the movie being too shocking, considering that it in very clear terms tells audiences, "You will never forget where you were the first time you saw mother!". In that regard it feels like an homage of classic horror movie trailers, accompanying its lofty claim with plenty of discordant music and editing.

Whatever you made of the movie, this teaser was more indicative of the final film than any other trailer, while still preserving plenty of Aronofsky's demented mystery.
