13. Children Of The Corn

The first film in a franchise that spawned a ridiculous amount of forgettable sequels is the best of the bunch and has achieved cult status. It may not have aged brilliantly, but the Stephen King adaptation manages to still be creepy when it comes to the titular children.

After a couple are trapped in a town run by sadistic children, they discover that they killed all the adults that inhabited the place and will kill anyone over the age of 18. The Children of the Corn are a religious cult led by their leader Isaac, whose gravelly voice adds to his particular weirdness.

The idea of the murderous and fanatical children is especially unsettling and despite a lot in this film feeling dated, the concept remains unnerving.

The first scene in which we see the children begin to murder the adults of their town is the most disturbing moment in the film and is one of the best examples of creepy kids being scary in horror films.
