Essentially a Lifetime movie of the week by another name, fortunately Dangerous Lies does taste just as sweet.

"Sweet" here meaning endearingly silly and enjoyably over-the-top, of course.

Starring Riverdale's Camila Mendes as the suspicious protagonist who wonders whether her too-good-to-be-true spouse is hiding a dark secret (two guesses whether he is in a film called Dangerous Lies), this campy melodrama features a handful of bonkers plot twists which are worthy of a soap opera or teen drama like, well, like Riverdale.

Mendes brings enough bright eyed charm and gasp-y overdramatic acting to the role to make this would-be Gone Girl not only palatable, but actually a pretty fun potboiler.
