15 Best Performances In MCU Movies (So Far)

No one saw it coming, but Dave Bautista has outstripped Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the best wrestler turned actor. He may look like a great big chunk of chiselled meat, but Big Dave’s turn as Drax The Destroyer steals the show in Guardians Of The Galaxy - which, with that stacked cast, is no small achievement.

There are few men with the physical attributes necessary to properly play Drax, and fewer still with the acting chops of Bautista. The initial casting may have stemmed from his heft, but Bautista had no intention of coasting on this. He stated that he felt a significant connection to Drax, both of whom had come through difficult upbringings, and were easy to underestimate.

Bautista’s comic touch is superb, unexpectedly so. Indeed everything he brings to the role is surprising, from the seriousness with which he conveys Drax (which only adds to the humour) to the tragedy he finds at the character’s core.

Bautista is now a bonafide box office draw, and this all stems from his performance in Guardians Of The Galaxy. With the look he possesses he could easily have phoned this in, but instead he delivers one of the best rounded performances in the MCU.
