6. "Mandy Love Theme" - Mandy (Jóhann Jóhannsson)

Oscar-nominated composer Jóhann Jóhannsson sadly passed away before the Nicolas Cage-starring thriller Mandy was even released, but he left behind an absolute banger of a musical score that perfectly compliemented the surreal tone and neon-tinged visuals of Panos Cosmatos' delirious oddysey.

Picking just one track sure isn't easy, but the unexpected, synth-filled tenderness of the film's love theme does a brilliant job conveying Red's (Cage) loss before he launches off on cocaine-fuelled, chainsaw-wielding revenge.

Jóhannsson could've easily just churned out a cynical 80s-style synth score and been done with it, but he dared to take things further, and the result is one of 2018's most surprisingly emotional musical scores.
