15 Best Pieces Of Movie Music From 2018
7. "When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" - The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs (Willie Watson & Tim Blake Nelson)
Like most anthology movies, the Coen brothers' The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was a bit uneven, but most will agree that the various songs performed by the cast - especially those by Tim Blake Nelson - are among the film's highlights.
And none quite lands like Nelson's "When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings", which even received an unlikely Oscar nomination for songwriters David Rawlings and Gillian Welch.
Totally distinct in style to any other song on this list, it's a wonderfully old-school piece of relaxed, soulful Americana that's absurdly catchy and extremely easy on the ears.
Though it hasn't got a hope in hell of winning the Oscar, the Academy recognition was certainly well deserved.
