15 Best Pieces Of Movie Music From 2018

8. "Finale" - Mary Queen Of Scots (Max Richter)

Mary Queen of Scots may have been a mildly disappointing film given all the pre-release awards hype, but Max Richter's exhilarating musical score absolutely deserved to receive an Oscar nomination all the same.

This is exemplified no better than in the show-stopping track "Finale", which plays during the film's climax in the lead-up to Mary's (Saoirse Ronan) execution.

Combining pounding drums with gorgeously dynamic string work makes this one of the most memorable and affecting closing songs to any film released in 2018.

Even if the film as a whole didn't quite hit all of its emotional notes with the right impact, Finale was so damn persuasive it still managed to end the film in poignant fashion.
