6. Westworld
What is there to say about Westworld that hasn't already been said before? It's cinematic, immersive and larger-than-life in every way that you wouldn't expect a TV show to be. But hey, that's HBO for you.
Treated by many as Game of Thrones' spiritual successor, the show has gripped audiences for the past couple of years as we've all watched tales of self-aware androids attempting to outwit the worst of humanity and reverse the natural order of things.
The eight-episode third season aired on the cable service earlier this year and it was almost as thrilling as its predecessors. Yes, it did continue the show's annoying tendency to be so clever that it ends up leaving viewers confused, but the whole reinvention of the concept and the addition of Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul breathed new life into it.
In spite of its issues, Westworld remains in a different league to most shows on TV as its compelling storyline, incredible performances and breathtaking visuals make for an absolutely unforgettable watch. Season 3 did little to change that.
