15 Best Scientists In The MCU
2. Tony Stark
Tony Stark has been the central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since day one. The machinations of the genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist have done more to shape the world than any other character, for better and for worse.
The MCU is kicked off with Tony as an brilliant but arrogant engineer and weapons designer when his military escort is ambushed and his critically wounded by terrorists using his weaponry. An arc reactor and a daring escape later, he begins to reexamine his place in the world.
Tony always wanted to save the world but maybe making WMDs is not the best way to go about it. He then creates, well, a weaponized suit, but keeps it for himself so he can determine how it will be used.
The Iron Man suit is a marvel of engineering and computer science. Since the prototype that got him out of the cave he has created dozens of models with unique features. His suits have made him the world's best defender and have allowed him to step in the ring with super soldiers, aliens and gods.
Although he has always been well-intentioned, his creations have not always benefitted mankind. Look no further than Ultron. What was created to be a metal suit around the world turned into a rage-filled A.I. and a Sokovia meteorite.
No character has been more consequential to the MCU than Stark and he's done it with his tech. With world protecting suits and a clean energy source in one hand and WMDs and apocalyptic robots in the other, Tony's legacy is a mixed bag. His ideas of protection can be questioned, but his inventiveness and intellect cannot.
