8. Pvt. Vasquez - Aliens
Private First Class Jenette Vasquez continues the trend of absolutely badass female sci-fi characters with her appearance in Aliens.
A Smartgun operator with the Colonial Marine Corps, she was a part of the unit sent to combat the Xenomorph infestation at the Hadley's Hope colony.
Vasquez made the ultimate last stand to protect the remaining survivors as they escaped. Armed with a Pulse Rifle and grenade launcher, she held the Xenomorph drones off long enough to save Ripley and co., before ending her own life with a grenade and taking as many drones with her as possible.
Her sister, Carmen Vasquez, followed in her footsteps and joined the Colonial Marines, as discovered in the Colonial Marines comic books, where we also learn that Jenette was decorated posthumously for her actions at Hadley's Hope.
Vasquez wasn't one to do things by the book, but when it came down to it, she fought hard until her final moments.
