3. Fury

Fury 2014
Columbia Pictures

Released in 2014, David Ayer's Fury proved to be a rousing success, proving itself right off the bat to one of modern cinema's most compelling and powerful war movies.

Starring a fantastic ensemble led Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs and Logan Lerman, not a single talent is wasted throughout the film's two hour runtime, which comes complete with endlessly engaging characters, frank depictions of battle life, and a deep dive into a powerful story about heroism and the trials of war.

Pitt is a stand-out of the film, starring as tank commander "Wardaddy" Collier, a brutal and effective leader, but it is arguably Logan Lerman's turn as traumatised solider Norman Ellison which steals the film and grounds its more powerful moments as it fully descends into the horrors of war.

Visually striking, perfectly performed and passionately written and directed, Fury is a must-watch for anyone after a solid slice of World War II drama.
