15 Best War Movies On Netflix Right Now

4. Inglorious Basterds

Fury 2014
Universal Pictures/Weinstein Company

Easily the most violent, insane and carefree movie on the list, Inglorious Basterds is Quentin Tarantino at his most unrestrained. Let loose without remorse, his depiction of war and revenge is a sight to behold and is very possibly his most well-acted picture.

As with many Tarantino flicks, the plot is split between several different characters whose stories eventually link up. There's Shosanna (Melanie Laurent), a Jewish cinema owner intent on getting revenge against the man who killed her family; the titular Basterds (including Brad Pitt, Eli Roth and Michael Fassbender), a team of Jewish Americans intent on killing every Nazi they come across; and the ultimate target of both Shosanna and the Basterds, Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz).

Rightfully taking home an Oscar for his performance as the cold Nazi Colonel, Waltz's portrayal of Landa has already gone down as one of cinema's most iconic roles.

A movie overflowing with blood, gore and dark comedy, Inglorious is Tarantino's boldest and most engaging movie since Pulp Fiction. Honestly, it's worth the watch for the masterful opening scene alone, but as a whole the movie really does end up being an unforgettable viewing experience.
