15 Biggest Box-Office Movie Bombs Of The Decade
6. A Wrinkle In Time (2018)
A Winkle in Time had so much going for it. Ava DuVernay was behind the camera hot off her breakout success with Selma, and a stacked cast comprised of Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and Zach Galifianakis (to name a few) brought plenty of name recognition to the project.
The trailers looked promising as well. While the likes of Jack the Giant Slayer and Monster Trucks looked questionable before release, the fairytale focus of Wrinkle looked classically Disney, and while it was never projected to be a peak money maker, it was assumed that it would find an audience attracted to the studio's hallmarks.
Disney didn't go crazy with the budget either, financing the film for a relatively small $100 million, but it wasn't enough to stave off a loss. The fantasy flick barely made its money back with a $132 million worldwide haul, and with marketing costs taken into account, it's estimated to have lost the House of Mouse around the same figure.
