15 Biggest Box-Office Movie Bombs Of The Decade

My guy Brad Bird was done dirty with Tomorrowland. An ambitious sci-fi film about an alternate dimension theme park managed to capitalise on that great premise, with creative set-pieces driving this genuinely awesome family movie.

Before release, it had all the hallmarks of a hit. Brad Bird was a safe pair of hands, George Clooney was locked in as the lead, and Disney were all in on the marketing. Sadly, audiences struggled to understand what the movie actually was, and stiff competition from Mad Max, Poltergeist and Pitch Perfect 2 meant that film goers opted for the properties they knew.

Despite being a great time at the cinema, Tomorrowland flopped hard. The combined production and marketing budget was over $330 million, but the total box-office haul barely scratched £200 million. Losses were estimated to be as high as $140 million when all was said and done - so you can probably blame this for Disney avoiding original tentpoles in favour of safer remakes of animated classics.
