15 Biggest Box-Office Movie Bombs Of The Decade

There's a reason why Paramount is so keen on using Travis Knight's Bumblebee as a jumping off point for a new version of Transformers, and that's because the last version of the franchise had gotten completely unwieldy.

Sure, Michael Bay's blockbuster saga initially buttered up audiences to the tune of billions at the box-office, but in its later years, fatigue set in. The series had nowhere to go, and after a while Bay's bonanzas simply brought diminishing returns both from a creative standpoint as well as a commercial one.

That hit a head with the final Transformers film, The Last Knight, which dropped in 2017. Like the previous instalments, that sequel was made on around $250 million, but only brought in $600 million worldwide, which paled in comparison to the billion dollars the preceding flick made.

This film being on this list, though, is the biggest example of how bloated big-budget blockbuster filmmaking has become. Despite making over twice its budget, The Last Knight actually lost Paramount $100 million, and the studio put the breaks on more movies in Bay's universe.
