15 Biggest Guilty Pleasure Movies Of 2018
3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
As masterful as the original Jurassic Park was, all but the most hardcore fans gave up on the series delivering a genuinely worthy follow-up years ago, and the fifth entry into the franchise duly lives down to those expectations.
Monumentally stupid, indifferently acted and yet again overly reliant on nostalgia, Fallen Kingdom also might be the best-directed cinematic turd of 2018.
Director J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, A Monster Calls) is an artist who deserves better than this, but the guy's a pro, and he makes this film about as visually gorgeous as any filmmaker could dare to.
Combined with an outrageously misguided script from Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow, it adds up to a baffling, can't-look-away dumpster fire of a sequel.
"Best" Moment: Almost too many to choose from. The dinosaurs going to auction for a mere $10 million? The Indoraptor literally winking at the audience? The clone subplot?
No, the laughably inane finale in which young clone Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon) frees the dinos into civilisation because they're "like her" (that is, an abomination of nature), and Jeff Goldblum completes his cursory cameo with an enthusiastic, "Welcome...to Jurassic World."
