7. Legendary Announces New King Kong Film Skull Island For 2016
Godzilla wasn't the only monster to get an exciting Comic-Con announcement, as Legendary also revealed that they've got a new King Kong film in the mix, called Skull Island. And unlike the Godzilla sequel, Skull Island has a release date, for November 4th, 2016. The last time we saw Kong on the big screen was in Peter Jackson's 2005 eponymous remake, starring Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody, and Andy Serkis as Kong. Now the only question is, would Serkis be willing to reprise his role? Or has he had enough mo-cap primate action with the Planet of the Apes franchise? There are no plot details or word on who will direct the film, but it's safe to say that it will explore a bit of Kong's home, Skull Island, and the myriad dangerous creatures and beasts that live there, many of which were assumed to be extinct.
