6. Corey Stoll And Evangeline Lilly's Ant-Man Characters Revealed
Marvel opened their Hall H panel on Saturday night with Ant-Man, their most controversial project yet. After an extensive director search following Edgar Wright's departure, several rewrites, and a few actor departures, things appear to be back on track and filming is expected to begin on August 18th. Director Peyton Reed took the stage, and brought with him the film's four major cast members. We already knew about two of them, Ant-Men Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, but had only heard rumors about the other two. Now, it's official: House of Cards alum Corey Stoll will play the villain, Darren Cross a.k.a. Yellowjacket, while The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug actress Evangeline Lilly will play Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Douglas' character Hank Pym. Cross was once a protege of Pym's, but the two had a falling out and Cross took over Pym's company and stole the Ant-Man tech that he developed. Van Dyne, on the other hand, is the daughter of Pym and Janet Van Dyne, who's the Avenger known as Wasp in the comics. Hope is estranged from her father because of his tumultuous relationship with Janet, and will presumably take on the Wasp role in the film (and strike up a relationship with Pym's new protege, Scott Lang, played by Rudd).
