15 Biggest WTF Movie Moments Of 2014

14. Bryan Cranston Dies In The First Act - Godzilla

The Scene: Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston) suffers mortal wounds when a MUTO escapes from a top-secret facility, dying on the military chopper with his son Ford (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) by his side. Why It's So WTF: Pretty much anyone who watched the trailer for Godzilla was drawn in by the fact that Walter White would be taking on the titular monster, but considering that he's dead by the 40-minute mark, that's hardly the case in the end. Joe's premature death results in the rest of the movie having to hinge on the much less likeable character of Ford, and Taylor-Johnson just doesn't seem to be able to carry the movie with the commanding presence that Cranston no doubt would have. Why cast such a brilliant actor in such a potentially great role only to kill him off so early into the movie? Had he died at the end of act two, then perhaps it might've been more emotional and meaningful, but it barely felt like audiences got to know him before he was dispatched and they were given an inferior replacement.
