15 Brilliant John Williams Movie Moments

6. Peter Pan Is Back (Hook, 1991)

Hook Say what you will about Spielberg's Hook, but it's still considered by many to be a childhood favorite. It may be clunky when seen through the eyes of an adult, but for a child, very few movies can beat Hook's magic, and after all, that's what the film is all about, right? If you find yourself unable to appreciate Hook the way you did as a kid, perhaps this great scene will evoke a glimpse of how you viewed the world all those years ago, when we thought giant compasses were somehow painted at the bottom of the ocean. Williams' beautiful score celebrates Peter Pan's newly -found flying abilities in a scene that, for me at least, is an intravenous shot of nostalgia. That shot of Pan casting his rebellious shadow on a canopy of clouds before banking down to Neverland is just priceless. And so is Spielberg's not-so-subtle autohomage (stare at the sun to see what I mean). All I have to add is: Bangerang Peter.
