15 Brilliant John Williams Movie Moments

7. "It Belongs In A Museum!" (Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, 1989)

We nailed it! Now let's totally overdo this idea over a couple TV seasons..... Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade features a two hour long musical score. That's pretty much wall-to-wall music, but Williams' talent is such that he doesn't allow the picture to drown under such a strong orchestral accompaniment - the movie finds a perfect balance with the composer's work. The memorable opening sequence - featuring Indiana Jones as a scout teenager - shows in a very condensed and ingenious way the rather clumsy forging of the adult Indiana Jones; how he got his scar, where his fear for snakes comes from, how he obtained his hat, and the first time he handled a bullwhip. In the same way, we witness the gradual formation of the iconic Indiana Jones fanfare - Indy's theme is hinted here and there, but never heard all the way through and in its full glory until his triumphant escape at the end of the scene. This dynamic scene features over fifty musical sync points in under four minutes.
