15 Characters That Nearly Appeared In The Suicide Squad

5. Knockout

Deathstroke Suicide Squad
DC Comics

Based on Knockout's first appearance, you wouldn't think she posed much of a threat. (She debuted as an exotic dancing supervillain who worked at a strip club called The Boomboom Room.)

However, it was later revealed that Knockout wasn't some Z-list criminal - she was a New God. Not only that, she was a soldier from Apokolips and entirely devoted to Darkseid. When Amanda Waller saw Knockout could hold her own against Superboy, she believed the New God had what it took to join Task Force X.

Despite being an astounding fighter and tactician, she often butted heads with her allies since she didn't understand Earthly customs. After she and Deadshot accomplished a mission, Knockout slept with him to celebrate. Because this is ordinary behaviour on Apokolips, she was confused why her girlfriend, Scandal, was mad at her. Also, when she admitted she found Superboy attractive, she couldn't understand why he refused to be her slave.

Including Knockout in The Suicide Squad would've been a neat way to reference other characters in the New Gods mythos like Metron, Highfather, and Granny Goodness. Sadly, James Gunn thought other characters suited the narrative better, causing Knockout to be...um... knocked out.
