15 Characters That Nearly Appeared In The Suicide Squad
7. Solomon Grundy
During the 19th century, a merchant called Cyrus Gold was murdered and disposed of in a mystical bog called Slaughter Swamp. Years later, the magical properties of the swamp resurrected him as an immortal zombie called Solomon Grundy. No matter how many times he is burned, frozen, torn apart, or blown up, the undead creature will resurrect himself, often with new powers and sometimes, a new personality.
Despite being a brutish monster, a lot of supervillains are totally cool with working with him. Over the years, Grundy has joined the ranks of The Society, Injustice League Dark, Infinity Inc, and the Injustice Society. And since "not being able to die" is quite handy for a suicide mission, Amanda Waller was more than happy to bring him into Task Force X.
I am of course open to using them in the future. And there are many more wonderful @DCComics characters where these came from. See #TheSuicideSquad in theaters next month! pic.twitter.com/gRExWsy1yG— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 3, 2021
James Gunn hasn't specified what role Grundy would've performed in the narrative and why he was cut but the director stated he's open to using the character in the future.
