15 Classic Things Most Modern Movies Are Missing

12. Traditional 2D Animation

With the undeniably brilliant Pixar revolution of the mid-1990s came the popularisation of 3D, computer-generated animated films, while the classic art of traditional 2D hand-drawn animation had practically died a death by the 2000s. Nowadays, the overwhelming majority of animated films are computer-generated, while the occasional forays into traditional animation nowadays (The Princess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh, and The Wind Rises) are merely novelty outings that never reach the popularity of CGI cartoons. Can It Make A Comeback?: Traditional animation has been marginalised to such an extent that this just isn't possible. CGI animation is typically faster and cheaper than drawing by hand, and as this process becomes cheaper year by year, old-school animation is likely going to become even more relegated to the sidelines. It will, however, always have its fans, that's for sure.
