15 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The James Bond Franchise
4. Talented Actors Are Routinely Wasted
In Bond films good and bad (though mostly bad), great actors have been constantly wasted in roles not befitting their talents, with some of the more infamous examples including Telly Savalas (On Her Majesty's Secret Service), Christopher Walken (A View to a Kill), Robert Davi (License to Kill), Jonathan Pryce (Tomorrow Never Dies), Robert Carlyle (The World Is Not Enough), Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day), and the hilariously miscast Mathieu Amalric (Quantum of Solace). Everyone single one of these actors has proven their chops time and time again over the years, so to see them relegated to such piecemeal, under-developed roles not deserving of their talents is a huge shame. Thankfully the Craig series seems much more focused on the whole in terms of bringing in big talent for well-written roles (Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva being the sure highlight to date), even though it's inevitably going to happen again at some point (though hopefully not with Christoph Waltz).
