15 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The Marvel Cinematic Universe

13. Spider-Man Will Never Appear In The MCU

One of the key questions always asked about the future of the MCU is: when is Spider-Man going to show up? He was in the comic iteration of the superhero supergroup, and so it would make sense for him to show up here. After all, combining two insanely successful franchises just makes financial sense, right? The problem is one of bureaucratic red tape: Marvel Studios runs the MCU, while Sony Pictures distributes the Marc Webb Spider-Man movies, and it's simply unlikely that the two studios could ever come to an agreement on the monetary and legal aspects of a team up (despite the masses of cash both sides would stand to make). Plus, this is further complicated by the fact that the Amazing Spider-Man series doesn't exactly have a secure future right now, following the "disappointing" critical and commercial reception of the last film. What Can Be Done About It?: In an ideal world, this would be easy to arrange with a few sit-down conversations, but short of Sony relinquishing the rights to the property and them then being sold to Marvel Studios, it's just not very realistic, awesome though it would undeniably be.
