15 Depraved Movies That Are Incredibly Difficult To Watch

11. Sweet Movie

Have you ever wondered what emetophilia is? If you're a relatively normal human being then chances are it isn't something that's crossed your mind - if you've had the "pleasure" of watching Sweet Movie you'll have seen the practice in action, with characters becoming sexually aroused by the sight of another person vomiting. Still, while that should be enough to put most regular film fans off watching Sweet Movie, the film earned a release on the Criterion Collection label and is worth a watch if only for its relentlessly provocative and visceral imagery. It might not evoke the same scandalous reaction today as it did upon its release in 1974 - it's dated badly in many respects - but some things are guaranteed to turn the stomach of every generation. There's a political subtext at the heart of Sweet Movie too, in which communism and capitalism are played out in sexual politics where repression and liberation vie with one another for supremacy in the modern world. Although quite how much this was an excuse for the parade of depraved behaviour is anyone's guess.
