15 Dumbest Razzie Nominations Of All Time

11. Danny DeVito (Worst Supporting Actor - Batman Returns)

Nominations don't get much more tone-deaf than giving Danny DeVito a Worst Supporting Actor nod for his fantastic work as The Penguin on Tim Burton's Batman Returns.

DeVito was easily one of the best parts of the movie, delivering a haunting and grotesque performance that melded perfectly with Burton's bombastic style.

DeVito's performance was much closer to being Oscar-worthy than Razzie-worthy, in honesty, but the Razzies may well have jumped on it solely because the movie was criticised by many for being too dark, and DeVito's presence accounted for much of that.

It's a special kind of silly to literally pluck the best performance out of the film and say that it sucks. It was the film's sole nomination, too, so the voters clearly weren't just ticking every available box.
