The mesmerising power of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining cannot really be understated, given how it's still persistently discussed and debated about to this very day.

However, at the first-ever Razzie Awards, the classic horror masterpiece received two nominations, for Worst Director and Worst Actress, the latter being for Shelley Duvall's powerhouse performance as Wendy Torrance.

Firstly, nominating one of the most acclaimed directors in film history for arguably one of his finest directing jobs is beyond asinine, and while Duvall's performance does play as "annoying" to some, it is nothing if not a remarkably convincing depiction of sheer, distilled terror.
