The original Friday the 13th is one the most beloved, iconic and influential slasher films of all time, though the Razzies opted not to recognise its genius by nominating it for Worst Picture and Worst Supporting Actress, the latter for Betsy Palmer's turn as Mrs. Voorhees.

Sure, a rough-around-the-edges horror flick like this isn't going to appeal to everyone, but did it really deserve to be nominated alongside the likes of Raise the Titanic and Xanadu?

As for Palmer's nomination, she gives unquestionably one of the most memorable performances in the history of the horror genre, making her a delightfully unhinged icon in her own right.
