15 Dumbest Things In The Worst Summer Movie Season Ever

2. Warner Bros' Messy Theatrical Cut - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Unquestionably the most disappointing movie of the summer was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which while visually stunning and serving up a terrific Ben Affleck Batman, was an absolute mess as far as plot and character logic went.

It emerged soon after release that Warner Bros. had mandated cuts to chop the run-time down to a more manageable 151 minutes, and the Ultimate Edition released on home video at the end of June restored that half-hour of missing material to significantly higher acclaim (though the movie was still plenty flawed).

Why It's Dumb: It's clear from both BvS and Suicide Squad that Warner Bros. have a problem with executive meddling, and are leaving hundreds of millions of dollars on the table as a result.

Had Warner released the BvS Ultimate Edition in cinemas, reviews would've probably ended up more mixed than negative and better word-of-mouth wouldn't have given it such a sharp drop-off at the box office, where it failed to cross the billion-dollar mark most analysts expected.

Warner think they know better, but it's clear they should just let artists do their thing and see if the grosses rise as a result.
