15 Essential Films You Might've Missed From This Decade (So Far)

4. Kill List

Most of the time when sitting down to watch a film, audiences have a pretty good idea of what to expect - on rare occasions, however, a movie comes along which completely defies expectations and twists and turns until you're no longer sure what on earth it is you're watching. If you wanted to select a movie that captures this genre-defying attitude then look no further than Ben Wheatley's exceptional horror-thriller, Kill List, in which two hired killers take on a job which turns out to be far more dangerous than they expected. If the opening scene is more Mike Leigh than horror, by the final reel the film has utterly transformed into something exceptionally dark and twisted, while the journey in between is unpredictable to say the least. The genre-bending nature of Kill List has certainly created a few detractors, but for movie fans who enjoy a film which truly keeps them on their toes this is about as perfect as they come.
