15 Films We’re Amazed That Hollywood Hasn’t Remade Already
7. The Princess Bride
INCONCIEVABLE! The Princess Bride is an absolutely cult classic. To the extent that if you looked up "cult classic" in the dictionary then you'll see the movie poster. Of course if you are thinking of checking then please tape a very small printout of the movie poster into the relevant page of your dictionary so that I can be proved right. But seriously, the studio remaking this would make money simply from the curiosity factor. I think the closest that Hollywood has come to doing was when Stardust came out few years ago. The thing is that you could essentially re-do the film shot for shot with contemporary actors (with the exception of Wallace Shawn, who can feel free to reprise his original role) and that'd be it. I don't think they'd need to make many more steps than that in filming a remake. Personally, I think there is nothing to improve on in the film. I feel the same about this film as some fanatics feel about The Breakfast Club. It would verge on blasphemy to mess too much with this film. Leave it alone Hollywood. But be warned. If you do remake it then I will pay hard earned money to go watch it. I may even watch it twice. And that's even if I don't like it. Probability: It just takes a director who is a fan of the original to take it under his wing. As long as it isn't Tim Burton. In the meanwhile... http://youtu.be/i3W5GDkgf2w
