15 Films We’re Amazed That Hollywood Hasn’t Remade Already
5. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
One of the defining films of my childhood. One that I really don't want Hollywood to remake, but one that I'm also surprised they haven't. I'm still holding out for a sequel, I've always thought that something like "Ferris Bueller's Mid Life Crisis" or something would be brilliant. Then of course you have this from a few years ago that got Bueller fans all going... http://youtu.be/tKJPCXZ5gDs After the disappointment that it wasn't a few Bueller film, I was so hoping as well, I was surprised to see that the studio with the rights didn't see the fan reaction and immediately think that there was money to be made. The Bueller film is a bit unusual, the lead character talks to the camera all the time. It made the film engaging whereas otherwise the Bueller character would have probably come over as a bit of an ass, and the film would have been easily forgettable. So really the studio has the two options either remake and set a new film in a new school with new antics, or make a sequel with Matthew Broderick returning at Bueller and possibly bring back the others too. I'd love to see Alan Ruck return as a grown up Cameron Frye. Besides, making a grown up sequel might be one way to ease the John Hughes fans into the idea of new films based on Hughes' work before dropping them with a Breakfast Club reboot. Probability: Please take my money, I want to see the sequel.
