15 Films We’re Amazed That Hollywood Hasn’t Remade Already

3. Gremlins

If the Terminator can be remade, how on Earth have we not seen four or give Gremlins films already? Somehow we've only seen two. I'm in the group that prefers the second film, but I know there's a split over which one of the two films is better. I'm also weird. For a long time I preferred Grease 2 over the first film too. Then again I was ten at the time, and the second film has a motorbike gang... wait, I'm getting off topic... We've reached a stage now where kids these days won't have seen either Gremlins film. So I'm awestruck that Hollywood hasn't realised this and run off a quick reboot of the first film with the idea of doing as many films as the Saw franchise €“ basically as many films as possible in as short a timeframe as possible while they still make a profit. Gremlins is sort of a horror-comedy, like all good old horror-comedies. It was never really a genre on its own, in fact really only Gremlins and Army of Darkness spring to mind that could really be thought of as this type of film. In fact, if the new Army of Darkness film is a success at the box office €“ which I can't see how it could avoid being €“ then I suspect we'll see a Gremlins reboot shortly thereafter. Probability: Inevitable.
