15 Foreign Language Horror Movie Gems Hidden On Netflix
7. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014)
A hit on the festival circuit but largely unknown out with, this knockout Iranian horror from short-turned-feature film director Ana Lily Amirpour takes place in the fictionalized Bad City, a bleak and lonely place in which an enigmatic young vampire woman wearing a hijab stalks the streets at night on her skateboard, preying on men who are disrespectful to women. Intriguingly described as, "the first Iranian vampire Western," this isnt your average vampire horror movie; in fact, it almost goes out of its way to set up audience expectations before taking things in far more interesting directions. Shot in beautiful stark black-and-white, set to a surprisingly eclectic pop soundtrack and absolutely dripping with menace and unsettling dread, its a film that will effortlessly creep out even the most hardcore of horror movie fans but also give you that little bit of extra depth to latch onto. Available on US Netflix
