When it was announced that Olivia Wilde was set to make her directorial debut, people were a little bit unsure of what we'd get from her. However, Wilde's first foray into directing turned out to be an exceptional success as she gave us the high school comedy, Booksmart

The film stars Beanie Fedelstein and Kaitlyn Dever as two non-partying high school best friends, who have buried their heads in books for years to try and get into the best colleges in the country. However, they realise that their all work, no play attitude was all for nothing, as all of their classmates get into similar colleges, despite not working as hard as them.

We then follow the duo as they attempt to have as much fun as possible on their last night together as high school students, which leads to more debauchery than either of them previously believed they could handle.

Fedelstein and Dever bounce off of each other incredibly well, which leads to some sweet and extremely funny moments. However, the biggest scene stealer of the movie is Billie Lourd, who plays the insane Gigi in the film. The 27-year old pops up sporadically throughout the movie, but never fails to add more chaos to Fedelstein and Dever's night.

It might've gone under the radar for some, but Booksmart is an exceptional debut from Wilde that makes her second feature highly anticipated.
