15 Great Actors Who Have Never Won An Oscar

13. Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes lost his first Oscar nomination, for the epic Spielberg classic Schindler's List, to Tommy Lee Jones' role in The Fugitive. He then lost his second nomination, this time for the English Patient, to Geoffrey Rush's performance in Shine.

In other words, Fiennes is seriously unlucky, since he should have two statues under this belt (at least), and yet he's been denied at every turn.

Worse still, he wasn't even recognised for his work in Grand Budapest Hotel, The Constant Gardener or The End of the Affair.

Fiennes is one of England's most recognisable actors, and has proven more than once that he has no problem moving between productions of Shakespeare's tragedies to massive Hollywood blockbusters like Harry Potter and the James Bond franchise.

With an uncanny ability to play things hilariously straight (In Bruges), brutally tragic (The English Patient) and action-heavy (The Hurt Locker), Fiennes is a star capable of pulling off everything he sets his mind to. Despite the number of Oscar-winning productions under his belt, the Academy has yet to recognise his work personally. Shocking.
